No Pit So Deep

No Pit So Deep (continued)
Many of the families that come to the Real Life Center seeking help feel as if they are in a pit similar to the one described above.  These are families who have unexpectedly lost jobs, who have been through divorce, or have experienced health issues that have rocked their worlds and have had their finances shaken. Often, they feel alone and are losing hope that they will know a better place again.  When going through these financially difficult times, it is hard to see past the muddy walls that represent failed attempts at gripping the way out. The only hope of rescue is through other people throwing a rope down and pulling. The Real Life Center is grateful to be that rope – a safe place to seek help, find hope, and to learn that this is a community of love expressed through service to our fellow neighbors in Fayette and Coweta counties.
Psalm 40:2 says, “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.”  At the Real Life Center, our volunteers and staff are privileged to be the hands and feet of Jesus, lifting those who are hurting out of the dark pit and helping to set their feet on solid ground through meeting immediate needs. We then help to steady their journey by walking with them for twelve months through our programs such as food, clothing, financial advising, counseling, and classes as well creating a place for support through relationships with others. “You don’t know how much you have helped me and my family,” shares one of the families we have served. “After the car accident, you gave me HOPE in what I thought was the darkest time in my life.”
In Corrie Ten Boom’s most famous book, The Hiding Place, she recounts the story of her family’s efforts to help many Jews escape the Nazi Holocaust during World War II by hiding them in her home and how she found hope while imprisoned at the concentration camp. Corrie shares in her story that her father once told her “There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not deeper still.” The Real Life Center exists to help others get out of the pit of despair, walk on a journey to a better place and know His limitless love all along the way!
